“The new luxury and contemporary Conrad Algarve resort will open in September 2011,” Alessandro Cabella, the Hilton’s General Manager for the Algarve told Lusa News Agency.

He added that Hilton Worldwide signed an agreement with Portuguese group Imocom, which is responsible for the construction of the Conrad Algarve, a hotel with a six star concept.

The hotel itself will have 134 rooms and one presidential suite, costing almost €3,500 per night.

“As well as the rooms, we are going to have 19 suites and a presidential suite covering 300 square metres with a swimming pool, garage, private garden and a bridge to link the garden to the spa,” said Alessandro Cabella.

Prices have not yet been defined, but the presidential suite “should” cost between €3,000 and €3,500 per night, while the other rooms or suites will vary in price between €260 “up to a maximum” of €700.

Located in Quinta do Lago this resort, which has been classified as a project of national interest (PIN) will also have 80 apartments, of which only 10 will be managed by the hotel, with the remaining 70 being sold to private owners.

Mr. Cabella added that the company is “excited” about the fact that around “100 jobs” will be created at the Conrad Algarve.

“We are very excited about the prospect of creating interesting jobs and career opportunities for talented hospitality professionals and want to commit to making the hospitality industry a rewarding and valuable career,” he said, adding that the Hilton Group is currently recruiting the key team leaders and will continue to do so throughout this year.

According to Alessandro Cabella, “some team leaders have already been chosen for the Conrad Algarve,” but they continue to search for “the best candidates” who are passionate about luxury and hospitality, because they are the Conrad’s key to success.

Meanwhile, Loulé Mayor, Seruca Emidio, told Lusa News Agency that the architectural project for the Conrad Algarve has been given to the town hall and only “a final inspection and license for use” are needed, with completion expected by the end of summer.

The financial crisis affecting Portugal has caused some delays and re-scheduling of tourism projects in the Algarve, such as the Hotel Conrad Algarve Palácio da Quinta in Quinta do Lago, the original inauguration date of which had been set for 2009.

Elidérico Viegas, President of the regional hotel and tourist accommodation association (AHETA) lamented the “delays” but is confident that the resort will be ready this year.
